Position Title: Partner - Tier 1 Firm - Energy

The firm has a deep bench of attorneys spanning a broad spectrum of practice areas, collaborating across industries and geographies to meet the growing, complex needs of its clients. The Energy team handles a wide array of matters for clients throughout the energy sector, including renewable energy, utilities, oil and gas, and emerging energy technologies.
Role Summary
My client is currently seeking an Energy Partner to join its Dallas or Houston office. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in energy law—whether upstream, midstream, downstream, renewable, or otherwise—and a proven track record of advising clients on regulatory, transactional, or litigation matters in this space. Key Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as a trusted advisor to existing and new energy-sector clients, offering strategic counsel on a full range of legal issues.
- Practice Leadership: Play a key role in driving the growth and direction of the Energy practice in Texas, collaborating with other partners and practice leaders across the firm.
- Business Development: Identify and cultivate opportunities to expand client relationships, including cross-selling services to existing firm clients. Participate in marketing and client-engagement initiatives supported by the firm’s dedicated Marketing Department.
- Team Mentorship & Development: Mentor associates and junior partners, helping them build legal acumen and industry knowledge. Lead training initiatives or seminars to further knowledge-sharing in the Energy practice group.
- Strategic Advisory: Advise clients on regulatory compliance, transactions (M&A, joint ventures, financing), litigation strategy, environmental considerations, project permitting, and other matters integral to the energy industry.
- Collaboration & Cross-Functional Work: Collaborate with other practice groups, including environmental, finance, and litigation, to deliver comprehensive solutions that address clients’ business objectives.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in Texas or eligibility to become licensed in Texas.
- A minimum of 7+ years of experience practicing energy law, including significant client-facing and transactional or litigation exposure.
- Proven Book of Business or strong business development acumen with the ability to contribute to the continued success and growth of the Energy practice.
- Demonstrated ability to lead case teams, manage client engagements, and mentor junior lawyers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal strategies to diverse audiences.
