Position Summary
The firm is seeking a Corporate/M&A Partner with a strong transactional focus and a portable book of business to join its expanding corporate practice. The ideal candidate is currently working as a shareholder at a reputable law firm in the Houston area and is looking to grow their practice in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
This role presents an opportunity to leverage the firm’s broad client base, industry depth, and supportive culture to further develop a thriving transactional practice. The partner will lead and support high-value corporate/M&A deals, mentor junior attorneys, and collaborate with fellow shareholders and firm leadership on strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Transactional Leadership: Independently manage and lead complex mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, and other transactional matters from inception to closing.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as a trusted advisor to existing firm clients while cultivating new client relationships, consistently demonstrating a commitment to excellent client service.
- Business Development: Leverage an established portable book of business to expand the firm’s client base; proactively identify opportunities to collaborate with other practice groups within the firm.
- Team Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with other partners, associates, and paralegals to deliver seamless client service; mentor associates to foster professional growth and uphold high-quality standards.
- Strategic Firm Contributions: Participate in firmwide initiatives, marketing efforts, and leadership discussions; contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the firm’s corporate and M&A practice.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Licensure: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; active membership in the Texas State Bar.
- Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years of substantial experience in corporate transactional and M&A work, with a proven track record of leading deals and providing strategic counsel.
- Current Role: Serving as a shareholder, partner, or equivalent senior-level attorney in a recognized law firm in the Houston area.
- Portable Book of Business: Demonstrated ability to bring a profitable, sustainable book of business aligned with the firm’s practice areas and client base.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, transaction structures, due diligence processes, and negotiation strategies.
- Client-Centric Mindset: Strong commitment to delivering practical, solutions-oriented advice in a timely manner.
