A professional services firm is seeking a Business Development Manager to support the Corporate M&A practice group's marketing and business development initiatives. This role involves close collaboration with Practice Group Leaders (PGLs) to execute strategic goals and will report to the Global Director of Marketing and Business Development. The BD Manager will oversee one direct report and is expected to develop a deep understanding of the M&A practice, transactions, and key stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Provide business development (BD) and marketing support to designated practice groups and, as needed, to other practices within the firm.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities and promote collaboration among multidisciplinary teams.
- Conduct research on prospective clients, competitors, and industry trends to inform BD plans, proposals, and best practices.
- Develop and edit RFP responses, customized pitches, presentations, brochures, practice descriptions, attorney biographies, client alerts, newsletters, and directory submissions.
- Manage deal lists and experience databases for relevant practices.
- Coordinate with the PR/Communications team on media relations and practice-related communication efforts.
- Stay informed on industry trends and apply insights to identify promotional opportunities for the practice.
- Oversee client-facing events, CLE presentations, and practice-related seminars, and evaluate new opportunities.
- Collaborate with PR/Communications Managers to identify awards submission opportunities and increase media visibility.
- Evaluate and recommend sponsorship and speaking engagements for practice group attorneys, negotiating agreements as needed.
- Collaborate globally to implement marketing and BD deliverables for the practice group.
- Supervise and mentor a Business Development Specialist.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5-7 years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong presence, confidence, and the ability to build relationships and influence action.
- Excellent project management and leadership skills.
- Ability to set and achieve goals, secure buy-in from attorneys and senior management, and collaborate effectively.
- Strong delegation skills to guide, motivate, and evaluate team members.
Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range is $140,000 to $160,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and firm needs.
