Job summary:
To work as part of the clinical physiology service within the Cardiology Department. Independently performing and assisting with a wide range of physiological investigations; includes inpatients and outpatients, adults, paediatrics and the acutely unwell to aid the clinical diagnosis and ongoing management.
Key Accountabilities (including but not limited to):
- Carries out all aspects of clinical and administrative work as approved by their line manager, working within established codes of practice and local departmental standard operating procedures.
- Clinical investigations dependent on the applicant’s skillset and area of clinical focus and may include: - 12 lead ECG, 24/48/72 hour Ambulatory ECG Monitoring, 5/7-day Ambulatory ECG Monitoring, 24 HR blood pressure monitoring, Overnight Pulse Oximetry, act as a second for Physiologist/Consultant led Exercise Stress Test and Stress Echocardiogram.
- Routinely undertakes assessment of both inpatients and outpatients prior to a range of investigations and uses own discretion to ensure the patient is suitable for the investigation.
- To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care and dealing with their specific needs.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- NVQ level 2 or above.
- Expected to undertake informal training by means of periodic ‘in-house’ assessments.
- Communicates with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible care for the patient.
- Previous experience of working in a Cardiology department is desirable but not essential.
